Blue

The ebay dupe of the makeup forever flash palette came in the mail today and this was the end result. I was originally inspired by the sky but I think it came out looking more like the sea.

- Loreal color infalliable shadow in 027 Goldmine

Trend | Strobing

It's really interesting to see makeup trends come and go - I'm not hugely into trends but with makeup being so big on social media, it's become almost impossible to notice what type of look is in and what is not.
I guess I should explain what the heck strobing is: it's kind of the opposite of the "Kim K" contouring that was taking over instagram and other various social media sites. Basically you highlight everywhere you would normally highlight(cheekbones, above the brow, brow bone, inner corner, cupid's bow, tip of the nose/nosebridge, chin, the list goes on!) and skip the bronzer for a more luminous, dewy look. This type of look was really popular in South Korea; I remember an episode of a Korean Drama being on TV, and one of the actresses' face literally looked like she had saran wrap wrapped around her face because it was that shiny. Personally, I think it's best if you don't go overboard with your good old highlighter (otherwise I think it just looks oily). Try aiming for more of a candlelit glow, or a "glow from within", or (insert cliche youtube makeup phrases here).
Anywhos, here's what I used on my face to achieve that glow, or shall I say '광' ;)

FACE
- Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream (I don't have the shade name but I believe it was the second darkest or the third darkest colour!)
- NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Honey
- Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent (just on the centre of my face since my skin is on the oilier side)
- Urban Decay De-slick makeup setting spray
- NYX cream blush in Boho Chic
- NudiNudi Body BB Glitter cream in gold glitter (just on the cheekbones)
- The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter

BROWS
- Lorac Pro Palette (Taupe)
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade in Dark Brown

EYES
- UD Eyeshadow Primer Potion
- Lorac Pro Palette (Taupe, LT. Pink, and Mauve)
- NYX Cream blush in Boho Chic
- Innis Free Mineral Blusher in Romantic Pink Rose
**Basically, I started with the LT. Pink shadow but it wasn't bright enough, so then I added the Innisfree blusher, but then I decided that I wanted my eyes to have a slight shine to them so I added the blush on top for a bit of a glossy look.. so really you can just skip the LT. Pink shadow and go straight for a bright pink colour or the blush**
- 3CE Creamy waterproof eyeliner in #3 Wicked (as I am writing this I just realized this pencil comes with a sharpener attached on the end of it. What is this madness)
- Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister mascara (I know it looks like I have no lashes but that's my lashes' fault, not the mascara's)

LIPS
- Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour lipliner in Eastend Snob
- Topshop lipstick in Beehive

**The photos you see with a lot of shine was taken in front of direct sunlight, whereas the photos without the shine were taken away from the light! It was a bit difficult to capture the glow in all photos due to different light settings - sorry! You can see the glow-yness in real life I swear :) xx

Summer look feat. fauxFreckles

I've always pictured freckles whenever I pictured a "beach babe" type look. I had the beach part down for a while when I lived back in Vancouver but just ended up with a butt load of freckles on my arm, not my face. But alas, makeup can create and fake so many things.

FACE
- Some pinpoint concealing using the Dermablend ultra corrective cream stick foundation
- Benefit Watts Up Highlighter
- Nars Casino Bronzer
- Benefit Rockateur Blush

FRECKLES
- Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown
- Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Taupe
- Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark Brown
*Randomly start dotting your face starting from the nose, making sure to keep the application very light and circular. You may also lightly blend out with a sponge or foundation brush, etc. if you think it came out too harsh. I blended mine out several times. I also found that freckles tend to fade out nearing the tip of the nose and the bridges of the nose, even if these people have freckles on their foreheads so I kept those areas very light too. Be sure to make the dots random as freckles aren't meant to be symmetrical!

BROWS
- Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown

EYES
- MAC Woodwinked
- Some random brown eyeshadows for crease definition
- Maybelline master kajal brown eyeliner
- YSL mascara ***note: I was going to make this quite bronzy and lashy for the eyes but when I was doing my eyeliner it had come to my attention I had a stye or smth on my eyes. Obviously I decided to not really add more makeup near my eyes and ended the look there. I still think it looks nice, but with lashes it would've been a more "beach babe" look.

LIPS
- MAC Spice lip liner
- Topshop Rumour Has It lipstick

Moral of the post: Love your freckles, love your face!

Graphic Eyeliner

FACE
- Dermablend Ultra-Corrective Foundation Cream-Stick in the colour 15 Sand
- Dermablend Translucent Loose Powder
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer
- Nyx Cream Blush in Orange
- The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter

BROWS
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown

EYES
- Nyx Jumbo Eye pencil in milk
- Nyx Liquid Eyeliner
- Lorac Pro Palette (Espresso)

LIPS
- Topshop Infared

Watercolour

FACE
- Rimmel Match Perfection 240 Soft Beige
- L'oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder in 320 Natural Beige (the rimmel foundation was too light)
- Vichy Dermablend Ultra Corrective Foundation Cream-Stick in 15 Sand

BROWS
- BH Cosmetics 120 Colour Eyeshadow Palette First Edition (Purple)

EYES
- BH Cosmetics 120 Colour Eyeshadow Palette First Edition
- Water
- A little help from gravity
*Either scrape off some of the shadow and mix that in water or be really careful not to get the whole thing wet because the parts that get wet won't be functional after the water dries! These shadows weren't meant to work with water so keep that in mind. Get an actual watercolour palette if you want to go crazy

LIPS
- Topshop Infared and Brighton Rock mixed

Glossy Lids

FACE
- Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in 30 Beige
- Vichy Dermablend Powder
- Nars Bronzer in Casino

BROWS
- Maybelline Brow Drama in Deep Brown
- Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette
*I kept the brows very light to keep the focus on the eyes

EYES
- Lorac Pro Palette (Espresso and Black)
- Maybelline Eye Studio Quad in 90 Irresistibly Ivy (the turquoise shade)
- Makeup Forever Diamond Powder
*To get the glossy effect, I mixed Josie Maran Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil with the eyeshadows (You can also use a clear gloss to mix with the eyeshadows. I would've used clear gloss but the only clear gloss I had was a lip plumping one and I didn't want to risk putting that near my eyes).

LIPS
- MAC Heroine lipstick (looks purple but is actually quite pink when you apply it)
- MAC Fashion Boost lip pencil

*I kept everything except for the eyes matte so the focus could be on the eyes. I suppose I also could've kept the lips nude but I love how purple and green look together so I couldn't resist! Also kept everything quite smudgy and messy. You can also make the lips glossy to keep with the theme.

I really don't recommend wearing this look out, especially for those with mono lids because I found that it obviously didn't stay where my eyelids fold in and a lot of it got in my eyes which made my vision foggy (hence why some of the pictures aren't in focus -- sorry!) It's a really fun look to play with and would look great as an editorial look, just not very practical for an everyday look.
